Rangers: BBC pundit bemused by what Connor Goldson did in goalless draw v Dundee
Rory Loy was left frustrated as Connor Goldson missed a golden chance to give Rangers a first-half lead over Dundee in their 0-0 draw at Dens Park on Wednesday.
Phillipe Clement expected a response from his players at Dens Park after the 3-2 loss to Ross County last time out.
The home side had the ball in the net early on but had it ruled out for offside. The best chance of the half fell to Goldson who powered a header straight at the keeper.
Speaking to BBC Sport (17 April, 08:33 pm), Loy was left wondering how the away side wasn’t in the lead given the quality of opportunity.
He said: “Goldson has got to score. You could say it’s a good save but Rangers have had enough chances to be winning this game.”
Did Rangers deserve a half-time lead v Dundee?
Given the sub-standard performance that the Gers showed against Ross County, fans would have expected a better start.
They didn’t get this as the home side looked more likely to score in the early stages of play. Jack Butland was forced into a set of excellent saves.

After this, the Light Blues had the better share of possession with 65 per cent and made that count with nine shots, three on target [FotMob].
As Loy said, Goldson probably should have scored as his header went straight at Jon McCracken in the Dundee goal.
Despite having the better of the chances, Clement’s side weren’t necessarily deserving of the lead as nothing clear-cut was forged.
With so many attacking options on the pitch, the Gers are open at the back but still aren’t looking like scoring with any ease. Clement needs a change to avoid being left behind in the title race.
