Rangers: Nicolas Raskin ‘done’ at Ibrox as Philippe Clement tipped to ‘actively’ look for sale

Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin is “done” at Ibrox and the Gers will be “actively trying to sell him” this summer, according to Andy Halliday.

The Belgian midfielder was a regular under Michael Beale at the start of the season but has fallen out of favour under Philippe Clement and was left out of the matchday squad in its entirety against Celtic at Ibrox.

While Halliday has admitted he is a big fan of the 23-year-old, he doesn’t believe there is any way back for Raskin in Glasgow and believes that the Gers will be doing all they can to sell him come the end of the season.

Speaking on the Open Goal YouTube channel (16 April, 36:00) he said: “What’s happening with Raskin by the way? He’s got to be done you would imagine. He got left out of the squad for the Celtic game and he’s been an unused sub for the last few weeks.

“Let’s be honest, you know I’m a fan of Raskin, but he’s not done well this year. It’s at the point where you think Raskin is away in the summer. It’s got to that point where he’s not getting a sniff, you’d imagine they’re actively trying to sell him.”

Will Rangers and Philippe Clement sell Nicolas Raskin in the summer transfer window?

Clement was quick to add to his midfield options in the January transfer window not long after he arrived at Ibrox, with Mohamed Diomande and John Lundstram the preferred holding midfield pairing at Ibrox under the Belgian.

Raskin hasn’t justified his selection with his recent displays when he has been afforded rare minutes. His last start saw him hooked after 45 minutes when Motherwell won at Ibrox and since then he has been rooted to the bench.

While the likes of Lundstram, Todd Cantwell and Tom Lawrence have been inconsistent for large parts of the season, they have all outperformed the 23-year-old and it seems obvious he has no future in Glasgow under Clement.

A summer switch would be the best solution for all parties, especially as Clement will likely be keen to add to his options this summer. The Gers should be doing everything in their power to find him a new club ahead of the end of the season.
