Jack Butland called ‘incredible’ as Sky Sports show replay of what Rangers star did v Dundee

Kenny Miller has hailed Jack Butland’s “incredible” double save for Rangers in their Scottish Premiership clash with Dundee.

The match had previously been postponed twice due to issues with the Dens Park pitch, but finally went ahead as Rangers look to cut the deficit between themselves and Celtic back to just one point.

Butland produced two significant first-half stops to keep the scores level – though the offside flag was subsequently raised against Scott Tiffoney.

And Miller, speaking live on Sky Sports Football [08:21pm, 17 April], was impressed with the goalkeeper, saying: “You know, it’s a great effort.

“[And it’s] an incredible double save by Jack Butland – I think Tiffoney might just be offside as well on the first one [but] two huge saves, Jack Butland wasn’t to know that.”

Jack Butland a rock at the back for Rangers

Butland has been the only ever-present figure in the Gers’ Scottish Premiership campaign.

He has played the full 90 minutes in each of their previous 32 league outings, helping them record the best defensive record in the division, with just 23 goals conceded.

His signing on a free transfer from Crystal Palace this summer has had a transformative impact on the squad, with the 31-year-old cementing himself among the finest shot-stoppers in the division.

Rangers have been superb with him between the sticks and he deserves plenty of credit for his part in their title chase, as well as their Scottish League Cup success earlier in the campaign and their run to the semi-finals of the Scottish FA Cup, with a potential treble in sight.

The Rangers goalkeeper’s shot-stopping skills were on full display in the first half against Dundee, even though his saves will not be recorded in the statistics due to the offside flag being raised.

One way or another, Rangers fans can feel confident with Butland standing guard over their goal.
