Rangers v Hearts: Keith Jackson predicts Scottish Cup semi-final for Daily Record

Keith Jackson has predicted that Rangers will overcome Hearts and face Celtic in the Scottish Cup final.

The Gers face their Scottish Premiership rivals at Hampden Park on Sunday (21 April) in a repeat of the 2022 final.

Celtic are up against Aberdeen the day before, meanwhile, and journalist Jackson can see both Old Firm sides advancing.

“It’s all set up for an Old Firm shoot-out in the final,” he wrote for the Daily Record’s print edition [15 April, page 36].

“It’s bad news for Aberdeen and Hearts but the big two have been on a collision course for some time now.

“It’s hard to see how this season ends without them having another final scuffle.”

Rangers face quick turnaround in fixtures

This season’s Scottish Cup does indeed look set up for an all-Glasgow final, but nothing can be taken for granted at this stage.

Rangers’ form has not exactly been great of late, having won just two of their past seven games across all competitions.

That includes a shock 3-2 loss at Ross County on Sunday (14 April) which seriously dented the Gers’ Scottish Premiership title aspirations.

The Europa League dream is now over, of course, but Philippe Clement’s men are still very much on for a domestic treble.

If that is going to happen, the loss to Ross County has to be forgotten about ahead of the midweek trip to Dundee.

Only then will Clement start thinking about the cup showdown with Hearts, who have eight days to prepare for the match.

Let’s just hope this wobble does not continue as every game now is vital.
