Rangers: Chris Sutton aims ‘daft’ Philippe Clement dig on BBC after what he said
Chris Sutton has labelled Philippe Clement “daft” for his comments after Rangers fell to a 3-2 loss against Ross County at Dingwall on 14 April.
This comes after the boss suggested that their preparation had been affected by the constant postponement of their clash with Dundee – despite insisting he would not use that as an excuse.
Despite confessing that Clement has done a good job since arriving at Ibrox, Sutton couldn’t help but aim a dig at the boss as he drew chuckles from those joining him on air.
Speaking live on the BBC Sport Monday Night Club [15 April], Sutton jabbed: “He’s been pretty good and hasn’t said many daft things since he’s been up there, but he did say he wouldn’t use the Dundee game being called off as an excuse and then proceeded to use it as an excuse.”
Chris Sutton aims Philippe Clement dig after Rangers loss
Sutton’s dig at Clement comes despite plenty of praise for the boss since he arrived in Glasgow, with the former Celtic man revelling in Rangers’ misfortune following the defeat which has put the Hoops in charge of the title race.
If Clement had guided Rangers to win all three points from Ross County, they would have been in a significantly stronger position to challenge their rivals at the top of the table, cutting the gap to just a single point.
However, his frustration which led him to search for an excuse following the game will have come from the failure to close that gap with four points now separating the sides, although there is a game in hand between them.

Brendan Rodgers’ side will now know that if they can win the rest of their games, they will win the league, but the same goes for Clement.
The Gers cannot slip again, and they know that they now need to win at Parkhead, something which could make a potential title even sweeter.
In other Rangers news, Sutton admitted he was excited while watching the defeat.
