Simon Jordan provides new Rangers, Celtic title race verdict live on talkSPORT
Simon Jordan has suggested that Rangers must beat Celtic at Celtic Park in order to lift the Scottish Premiership trophy this season.
The Gers have the opportunity to claim just their second league title in the last decade, though their Old Firm rivals have now taken a four-point lead at the top of the table albeit they have played a game more.
Philippe Clement has done a brilliant job at Ibrox since his appointment in October but suffered a shock 3-2 defeat at the hands of Ross County on Sunday 14 April.
Speaking via talkSPORT on Monday (15 April), Jordan said: “I listened to him [Philippe Clement] and saw a little bit of the game.
“I listened to his speech afterwards where he’s thoroughly fed up, you saw him turn on his heel after the result, walk straight down the tunnel and he didn’t pull any punches about what he thought about the performance.
“It’s disappointing you want the jeopardy of the real stuff. Now Rangers have got to do what I accused them of being unable to do last week with [Graeme] Souness and that’s lay a glove on Celtic.
“Are they going to win this league now? They can’t win this league by not beating Celtic. Now they’ve got to go to Celtic Park and they’ve got to beat them to win the league and win their game in hand.”
Can Rangers pip Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title?
Rangers will need to be near-perfect if they are to beat the Hoops to the league title this season, and Clement will know that.
He will also know that the only way to be near-perfect will be to take three points away from a crucial clash at Celtic Park, having lost twice and drawn once against Celtic this season.
Of course, everybody expects the Gers to defeat Dundee once the match is finally played, having been postponed twice due to the state of the pitch at Dens Park.
However, after the mighty slip-up against Ross County on Sunday, Rangers will need to be at their very best to regain some confidence and secure all three points, which would leave them just one point behind the leaders.

Their recent performances will be a slight worry for the Ibrox faithful, having lost two of their last four matches in all competitions, with the dramatic 3-3 draw against Celtic at least ensuring the situation in the league wasn’t worse.
With a handful of matches left, the league title is still all to play for, and Rangers will need to return to winning ways if they are to pip Celtic to the all-important piece of silverware this season.
In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart is liable to explode as a notoriously unpopular element to the Dundee controversy emerges.
