Rangers: Jeff Stelling takes pop at Philippe Clement’s side in Celtic title race verdict
Jeff Stelling believes Rangers are still capable of winning the Scottish Premiership title, even if this season has “not been vintage”.
The Gers suffered their sixth defeat of the campaign on Sunday (14 April) as they fell to a shock 3-2 loss away at Ross County.
That loss leaves Philipps Clement’s side four points behind Celtic with a game in hand to play and a trip to Parkhead still to come.
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast [15 April, 07:06], Stelling said: “It’s a body blow as far as Rangers are concerned.
“Of course they can [still win the title]. They’re four points adrift with a game in hand and seven games still to play.
“But they’ve lost half a dozen times this season, not just to Ross County but to Motherwell, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock. This season’s not been vintage, even though they’re in the title race.”
Rangers form worrying in title battle with Celtic
Rangers may have lost six times across their 32 league games – one defeat every five matches – but half of those came under Michael Beale early in the campaign.
Clement turned things around and somehow not only got the Gers back into title contention but made them favourites to lift the trophy.
However, Rangers’ form has been poor over the past couple of weeks, having lost to Motherwell and Ross County, while drawing to Celtic at Ibrox.
The Light Blues were never going to be able to win every game, but the loss to Ross County was a blow that nobody saw coming.
Whether or not the quick turnaround in games this week is a good thing or not remains to be seen, with a trip to Dundee next up.

As we have seen across the course of the campaign, there will almost certainly be more twists and turns ahead.
Celtic will not win each of their remaining games – not even including the Gers’ trip to Parkhead – so let’s just remain positive.
A vintage season it may not have been, but all that matters is that Rangers are sitting top come full-time on the final day of the season.
