Rangers and Philippe Clement slammed by BBC man after recent comments

BBC journalist and presenter Tam Cowan has slammed Rangers and Philippe Clement amid the recent Dundee-SPFL fixture chaos.

Speaking live on Off The Ball on BBC Radio Scotland (13 April), as quoted by the Scottish Sun, Cowan accused Clement of living in a glass house for his comments on the fixture before calling Gers an embarrassment.

He brought up the chaos that ensued in 2012, which according to him, tarnished the reputation of the Scottish game.

Cowan said: “If you’ve got any theories, let us know. But, there has been an element of people in glasshouses.

“Philippe Clement was out having a bash at Dundee for how embarrassing it was to Scottish football.

“Philippe should maybe look back to 2012 and see the embarrassment that was brought onto Scottish football by his own club.”

Clement had every reason to call out Dundee for the state of their pitch, as it has led to the postponement of the fixture against them for the second time.

As a football manager, the Belgian is understandably frustrated with the situation, as his team’s performance and results are under constant scrutiny.

The rescheduling could potentially impact Rangers’ title challenge, and Clement’s job security could be at stake due to factors beyond his control.

Furthermore, it is not unreasonable for him to voice his concerns about the pitch and its implications for Scottish football’s reputation.

His comments were not necessarily directed at Dundee’s financial situation or past decisions but rather at the immediate issue of the unplayable pitch, which is a valid concern for any football manager.

While Cowan has a point about people in glass houses, it is essential for him to present a balanced view, considering the context and the potential consequences for the club and Clement.
