Rangers: Chris Sutton slams Dundee ’embarrassment’ as new ‘fairest’ solution mooted
Rangers and Dundee should be awarded a point each following the embarrassing postponement of their clash at Dens Park, according to Chris Sutton.
Philippe Clement’s side were due to play at Dens Park on Wednesday (10 April) after the original match was called off because of an unplayable pitch, but heavy rain meant that referee Don Robertson postponed the game once again.
While Sutton has admitted that he is on the Gers’ side, labelling Dundee’s pitch an “embarrassment” he suggested cheekily that it would be fair to award each side a single point if the game cannot be played, much to Celtic’s advantage.
Speaking on It’s All Kicking Off (11 April, 24:30) he said: “How can Dundee United be playing but Dundee can’t. I’m with Rangers on this and I don’t often say that. You had the guy who was talking about climate change, but 100 yards down the road their rivals were playing.
“They should have managed the ground better than they have done, that is an embarrassment. The fairest outcome is to give both teams a point.”
Chris Sutton slams Dundee ‘embarrassment’ after Rangers postponement
You know that Rangers are in the right when even Sutton agrees with the Gers as the Englishman will go to great lengths to avoid siding with the Light Blues, but this current situation is completely inexcusable.
For five games to have already been called off at Dens Park before the Premiership split is absolutely ridiculous and it has become abundantly clear that Dundee’s pitch just isn’t up to the standard required in an elite league.

While the SPFL have insisted that some sort of punishment will be heading Tony Docherty’s side’s way, the Scottish governing body simply must find a way to stop this from happening in the future as it damages the whole league.
Hopefully, the game will go ahead as expected next week and Rangers will manage to finally claim all three points, but you will be hard-pressed to find a supporter on the blue half of Glasgow who agrees with Sutton’s suggestion the points should be shared.
