Dundee United mock Dundee over Rangers fiasco as Tannadice images emerge
Dundee United have mocked Dundee chief Eric Drysdale after he blamed climate change for the second postponement of the game versus Rangers at Dens Park this week.
The Scottish Premiership fixture was called off on Wednesday (10 April) as the Dens Park pitch was deemed unplayable ahead of kick-off yet again by the referee.
This came despite them playing a match there against Motherwell just days before (6 April) with the pitch condition being very similar.
Dundee secretary Drysdale was quoted by The Sun as saying the “effects of climate change” has wreaked havoc on the Dens Park – despite Dundee United’s pitch at Tannadice being in pristine condition literally down the road.
Dundee United took to X to poke fun at the comments on Thursday (11 April), sharing images of the squad training at Tannadice and saying: “The perfect climate for [Morton v United] fine-tuning.”
How will Rangers be affected by Dundee postponement?
The game was called off late in the day because of the pitch and has now been rescheduled for a week later on April 17.
This now means that the Gers will play three games in seven days as they also play Ross County in the league and Hearts in the Scottish Cup, with Dundee in the middle.
Given there is a run-in on the horizon, Philippe Clement is more than likely frustrated by this fixture congestion.
He will just need to ring the changes each game and make the most of his squad with the title race in mind for the coming weeks.
Last time out against Celtic in the Old Firm, fringe players like Rabbi Matondo, Kieran Dowell and Leon Balogun got some minutes.
This sort of squad rotation will have to be done to keep their legs fresh and give themselves the best chance of winning this title.
