Dundee have ‘no money’ as Rangers debacle rumbles on via Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour

Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour have sympathised with Dundee after the Rangers controversy at Dens Park but insisted improvements will need to be made.

This came after Simon Jordan went on a rant on talkSPORT against Rangers in which he accused the Ibrox side of hypocrisy, labelling them “remarkably pompous” for their criticism of Dundee.

Brazil explained that he agreed with Jordan’s assessment given the financial disparity between the clubs, but conceded that the pitch is “rubbish”, while Parlour questioned the groundsmen.

Speaking live on talkSPORT on Friday morning [12 April, 06:36am], Brazil shared: “I think Simon was correct. Look, Dundee have no money up there, it’s as simple as that. Celtic and Rangers have all the money.

“They don’t have any money, but their pitch is rubbish compared to other Premiership sides.”

Parlour then continued: “No, they don’t. They’re not great either, the groundsmen. That’s a problem, it’s like a packet of crisps, what they get compared to other leagues.

“It’s a bit of a nightmare but what can I say.”

This all comes after Rangers’ saw an already rearranged fixture at Dens Park postponed again due to the condition of the pitch, and while the lack of money can be blamed, they are the only SPFL club with routine problems at their home ground.

The decision angered Philippe Clement as he insisted he was not buying the excuses from Aberdeen due to the state of the pitch across the road at Dundee United as it has caused further issues for Rangers in the title race.

With Rangers and Celtic so closely matched at the top of the table, proven by the 3-3 draw in the Old Firm derby, the game in hand was an opportunity for Clement’s team to reclaim top spot but they will now be forced to wait.

Philippe Clement has overseen an excellent turnaround at Rangers.

With Brendan Rodgers’ side set to host St Mirren at Celtic Park on Saturday, there will be a period where they can move four points clear – albeit with two more games played – meaning Gers will have to be chasers rather than leaders.
