Rangers: Matthew Lindsay cannot believe Hugh Keevins accusation after Dundee saga
Rangers and Dundee’s postponed Scottish Premiership match is still causing drama, with Matthew Lindsay reacting to a fan accusation on Clyde SuperScoreBoard.
The Bears were the subject of one caller’s accusation that Hugh Keevins was trying to ensure they were awarded three points following the postponement, which the Herald journalist Lindsay called “absolutely mental”.
The reaction to Rangers’ match with Dundee being postponed for a second time drew plenty of comments about the facilities at Dens Park, as a new date of 17 April – one month after its initial slot in the calendar – was confirmed by the SPFL.
Lindsay was baffled to hear some of those comments, posting on X to say: “Caller just accused Hugh Keevins of trying to get Rangers awarded three points. Even by Scottish football standards, today has been absolutely mental.”
Dundee and Rangers saga continues in Scottish Premiership
The lack of clarity surrounding the status of this match has left fans frustrated, with the game being postponed hours before kick-off twice within a few weeks.
Rainfall in the Dundee area hardly subsided after an amber weather warning in the area and it took two pitch inspections for referee Don Robertson to decide against risking the waterlogged Dens Park pitch ahead of the match on Wednesday (10 April).
Calls to move the game to nearby Tannadice Park, barely 100 yards away but also the home of Dundee United, amounted to nothing, with just one round of matches left before the Scottish Premiership’s 33-game split.
Rangers are just a point behind Celtic going into matchday 33 and know a win in this fixture would take them to the top of the Scottish Premiership table, but this game in hand against Dundee is fast becoming a millstone around their necks instead.
