Rangers: Barry Ferguson rages at Dundee ‘shambles’ live on air after Dens Park development
Dundee and the SPFL have been slammed by Barry Ferguson for the “shambles” that saw Rangers’ clash at Dens’ Park postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
The Light Blues were due to play Tony Docherty’s side on Wednesday (10 April) after the match had already been postponed once, but following a pitch inspection by Don Robertson, the game was called off again.
Philippe Clement’s side had made the trip to Dundee on Tuesday (9 April) evening and former Gers midfielder Ferguson has urged the home side to “have a serious look at themselves” for their mistakes.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (10 April, 0:55) he said: “It’s a shambles if I’m being honest with you. It is clear that the pitch is not playable at 3:30, at 12:30 it looked not too bad but it was clear that there was no way the game could go ahead.
“I think Dundee need to have a serious look at themselves.”
Barry Ferguson rages over Rangers shambles as Celtic maintain Premiership lead
It has been clear for some time that Dundee’s pitch just isn’t fit for purpose in the Scottish Premiership as it has now let Rangers down on two occasions and only just managed to be ready for the clash with Motherwell last time out.
Ultimately, this current situation is making a mockery of the Scottish Premiership and its quality. The Old Firm derby showed just how good Scottish football can be and then this decision has immediately sent its reputation crashing back down.

Supposedly, the SPFL were able to move this game back 24 hours or even play it at a neutral venue, instead but rather than taking either of these options, the SPFL have opted to just have another go and hope next week.
Hopefully, the weather will change and the game will go ahead next week but Ferguson is right to lay blame at Dundee’s door for letting the Gers down twice. It is a total embarrassment to the Scottish game.
