SPFL disciplinary update emerges amid Rangers v Dundee announcement

The SPFL have confirmed that a disciplinary process is ongoing after the Dundee game against Rangers has been postponed for the second time, according to Chris Jack.

The Herald journalist tweeted on Wednesday (10 April) a statement from SPFL chief operating officer Calum Beattie, where he admitted that it is “extremely disappointing” that the fixture has been called off, with the rearranged match scheduled for 17 April.

He added that there is currently an “ongoing disciplinary process” regarding pitch issues at Dens Park and the latest developments will form part of the enquiries.

Dundee must make pitch improvements amid Rangers update

It’s incredibly disappointing for everyone to see that the Dens Park pitch has once again succumbed to the weather following the latest postponement.

Even after it was deemed playable on Wednesday morning, it still felt as though there was an inevitability about the game being called off due to the lousy weather forecast.

While it’s good that a decision has been made a few hours in advance of kick-off this time, what happens if the same issues arise on 17 April?

There simply must be improvements made to the surface at Dens Park because this shouldn’t be happening so often at a Scottish Premiership ground.

It makes a bit of a mockery of the league if these incidents are allowed to continue and it’s down to the governing body to step up and provide the club with the help it may need to improve matters.
