Scottish Cup: Pundit takes swipe at Hearts as Hampden ticket issues emerge v Rangers
Tam McManus has taken a swipe at Hearts after the Daily Record reported they could be hit with a six-figure fine if they fail to sell out their ticket allocation for their Scottish Cup semi-final clash with Rangers at Ibrox Stadium on 21 April.
Hearts beat Spartans, Airdrieonians and Greenock Morton to reach the last four, while Rangers – who are still in the hunt for a domestic treble – overcame Dumbarton, Ayr and Hibernian.
Former Hibs forward McManus made a jibe at Hearts’ apparent struggles to sell all their tickets for such a big game.
The 43-year-old posted on his personal X account in response to the report: “Is this the same Hearts that have a massive waiting list for season tickets? The big team? Surely not.”
Scottish Cup final beckons for Rangers
Rangers have certainly had the beating of Hearts this season – their last meeting at Ibrox in the league on 24 February saw the Gers run out 5-0 winners, with goals from Mohammed Diomande, Oscar Cortes, Fabio Silva and Cyriel Dessers, who got two.
It is also not the first time the pair have met in a cup semi-final this term, clashing at the same stage in the Scottish League Cup – a competition which Rangers went on to win after beating Hearts 3-1 in the last four.
Philippe Clement’s men will be eager to lift this trophy as well to keep their treble dreams alive. The Gers are one point behind Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic with a game in hand, keeping their destiny in their hands after coming through a whirlwind Old Firm derby on 7 April with a point after a 3-3 draw.
If Hearts fail to fill out their away allocation, Rangers will have even more of an advantage when the pair clash at Ibrox.
