Rangers want to sign Arnaud Bodart in £3.4m transfer from Standard Liege

Rangers want to sign Standard Liege goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart this summer in a deal worth £3.4m including bonuses, according to Sudinfo.

Writing on their website (10 April), the Belgian news outlet report that the Light Blues are “very interested” in the 26-year-old and could firm up their interest with an official offer soon.

Bodart will have just one-year remaining on his contract this summer and would be open to a move to Glasgow, but Brugge are still hopeful of earning at least €4m (£3.4m) from his transfer.

Rangers must spend their money wisely this summer

With the summer transfer window almost upon us, Philippe Clement has got a huge chance to really put his stamp on the squad.

Jon McLaughlin is out of contract and Robby McCrorie is all but certain to leave after falling behind Jack Butland in the pecking order this season and barely featuring under Clement.

That leaves the door open for a new goalkeeper to join the ranks and add competition to the squad, but £3.4m is a lot of money for a back-up option.

Several players are likely to leave the club and in the outfield positions there is a huge priority to bring in quality that can play the way the manager wants.

Bringing a new goalkeeper in will be needed, but without a major sale to fund it there will surely be better options to play understudy to Butland next season.

In other Rangers news, one player has surely played his final game for the club after what Clement said.
