Rangers v Dundee: Fury at Dens Park ‘farce’ after final Don Robertson pitch inspection

Heart & Hand branded the Dens Park surface a “farce” as the Rangers v Dundee clash was once again postponed.

The Gers podcast reacted via Twitter on 10 April as footage emerged of Don Robertson on the phone while carrying out his final 3.30pm pitch inspection [Chris Harvey via Twitter] which led to the game being called off once more due to unplayable areas.

The official had declared the surface was usable at the point of his 11.30am inspection, but heavy rain through the day after that time has washed out the fixture for a second time.

Rangers therefore remain second in the table behind Celtic by a single point, with this illusive game in hand remaining.

Rangers clash falls foul of Dens Park failure once more

It wasn’t looking hopeful as images emerged from the ground in the lead-up to the afternoon inspection, and when Robertson went out on the surface that proved to be the case.

The Dundee stadium has now caused a number of games to be called off this season, it upset Stuart Kettlewell when his Motherwell side did play on it at the weekend, and it has heavily effected the Light Blues fixture.

It will be a scramble to get this game played before the post-split fixtures, and if it is once again expected to be played at Dens Park there is surely the risk of a third-straight postponement.

Either way Dundee are already likely to already be facing strong questions from the league and other clubs thanks to the disruption that has been caused already.

Philippe Clement wasn’t happy to have made the trip for the original fixture only to have the game called off ahead of the international break, and will likely not be impressed by the further set back.

Such factors have even been tipped to cause the Belgian to walk away from Scottish football altogether if they continue, while seems extreme for now when he appears to have fit in perfectly at Ibrox this season, but it is true that this development isn’t a positive one.

In other Rangers news, an Ibrox legend has been accused of bias over a “cheating” Ibrox ace vs Celtic.
