Rangers v Dundee: Don Robertson spotted as official update emerges at Dens Park
Don Robertson has been spotted at Dens Park to assess the pitch ahead of the Rangers clash with Dundee on April 10.
The surface has previously been declared unfit on four occasions this season and Philippe Clement had requested that a decision be made before his squad travelled, but it has been left until the day of the game, with Robertson seen at the ground as he makes his judgement.
A second inspection has now been planned for 3:30pm, as shared by Barry Anderson, with rain forecast ahead of the match, which is scheduled to kick-off at 8pm – if it goes ahead.
Dundee result will shape how Rangers approach the end of the season
The result against Dundee has significant ramifications for Rangers as they look to lift the Scottish Premiership title ahead of Celtic and possibly even claim a domestic treble, having already won the ViaPlay Cup and reaching the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
In the league, the Gers are second, one point behind leaders Celtic but with a game in hand – this fixture.
Victory would take them two points clear ahead of the league splitting but a draw would keep them second on goal difference and a defeat would hand the advantage definitively back to Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The quality of the surface on which this game is played, therefore, has greater implications than the three points being contested by the two teams – the title itself could be affected, should poor conditions hinder – or, somehow, even help – Rangers.
One way or another, Clement will hope that his side can come through the game unscathed, should it go ahead – or that it is moved to a neutral venue with a more appropriate pitch.
