Rangers v Dundee: Chris Sutton reacts as update emerges from Dens Park

Chris Sutton has issued a tongue-in-cheek joke as an update has emerged from Dens Park over the Rangers v Dundee game scheduled to be held on 10 April.

For the second time with this fixture and the fifth game of the season, Dens Park is unable to host a game due to the poor pitch conditions.

Sutton has joked that if it rains again in Dundee next week, the game will then have to be played at Ibrox.

Via Twitter, he wrote: “What if it rains in Dundee next week? My sources tell me that if it can’t be played at Dens it will be moved to Ibrox…”

Action must be taken after Dundee v Rangers farce

The footage that emerged earlier showed that the pitch was fine but things appear to have gotten worse as the day progressed.

The recurrence of this problem reflects poorly on Dundee’s management of their pitch, raising questions about their ability to maintain it to suitable standards for professional football matches.

Given the significant impact on the football calendar and fan experience, there’s a call for substantial penalties or fines to be imposed on Dundee to incentivise them to address and rectify the issue promptly.

Additionally, the SPFL should step in to ensure that all member clubs maintain pitches capable of hosting games, especially considering the resources and technology available in 2024.

It’s imperative to uphold high standards to preserve the integrity and quality of football matches in the league.

One of the major reasons Scottish football is not developing is this and hopefully, this is taken very seriously now.

In other Rangers news, a Leeds-born striker has confirmed that he wants to move to Ibrox and is available on a free transfer this summer.
