Philippe Clement rages at ‘Crazy’ Rangers v Dundee development in last 24 hours
Philippe Clement has labelled the situation surrounding Dundee’s pitch ahead of the clash with Rangers as ‘crazy’.
The Bears saw their initial game with Dundee postponed just 90 minutes before kick-off last month due to a waterlogged pitch, with the rearranged fixture set to take place at Dens Park on Wednesday night (10 April).
But the weather has been relentless and there are doubts the game will be able to go ahead then too, leading boss Clement to lament a “bad situation for the league” during his pre-match press conference.
“It’s a crazy situation,” he said. “We are going to travel now and stay but we don’t know for sure if the game is on.
“It’s a bad situation for the league.”
Will Dundee vs Rangers go ahead?
The club will be desperate for this game at Dens Park to go ahead, because a win will see the team return to the top of the SPFL table.
Dundee have been struggling for form but are keen to push into the top six, but the longer this fixture is dragged out the less happy both clubs will be with the situation.
Clement wants the team back in action to put the draw with Celtic behind them after a crazy game saw them fight back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to claim a point, but player safety simply has to come first.
Motherwell were furious that their game with Dundee on Saturday went ahead, despite the fact they claimed a 3-2 win, and Rangers won’t be happy if key players get hurt due to a poor pitch.
There has to be a balance, and fans are once again being forgotten about as they will be expected to travel once more without knowing if the game is actually on or not. The SPFL have to do more and do better.
