Rangers v Celtic: John Hartson takes dig at fans in Ibrox for Old Firm derby
John Hartson has taken a dig at Rangers fans after what they did as their team secured a 3-3 draw against Celtic on 7 April.
Gers hosted their rivals at Ibrox and found themselves down 2-0 and 3-2, but came away with a point from this one.
Rabbi Matondo scored a stoppage-time goal to secure a point late on for the hosts.
Via Twitter, Hartson wrote: “Opportunity missed by Celtic. Yang has to show Matondo onto his left foot. Great strike. 2-0 up at half time. Could have been more. Rangers much better 2nd half. Pushed Celtic back. At the end it looked like the home supporters were ecstatic with a point.”
Clear Celtic bias evident as Rangers fight back
Hartson’s comments reveal his clear bias towards his former club.
By suggesting that Gers supporters were only ecstatic with a point, he overlooks the context of the match.
Despite being behind for much of the game, Rangers showed resilience and determination to fight back, making the equaliser a significant moment for them.
Additionally, the draw had greater implications for Celtic, who dropped two crucial points in the title race.
With Gers potentially going two points clear if they win their game in hand, the result benefited them more than Celtic.
They might have had chances to bury the game but didn’t take it and Philippe Clement’s side showed the hunger to do exactly that.
Hartson appears to be taking out his frustration by slamming Gers fans but it’s evident that the result went against his side.
In other Rangers news, a Leeds-born striker has confirmed that he wants to move to Ibrox and is available on a free transfer this summer.
