Rangers: Keith Jackson shares Old Firm verdict ahead of Celtic clash at Ibrox
Keith Jackson has insisted the Old Firm clash between Rangers and Celtic on 7 April is a must-win game for both sides with the SPFL title race approaching its conclusion.
The Daily Record journalist shared his view that, while the game definitely won’t be dull, a point for each team could provide both clubs with what they’re looking for.
He also went on to explain that both sides will be desperate to avoid a defeat with so much at stake, as the game should ramp up after half-time.
Writing via the Daily Record [6 April], Jackson shared: “With so much at stake, this could be regarded as a must-win derby for both sides. But it’s also one that neither will want to lose.
“A draw keeps Rangers on course to take top spot by winning their game in hand. Likewise, a point would be enough to keep Celtic’s destiny in their own hands.
“All of this may come into play in the second half if the scores are level. But it’s definitely not going to be dull. 2-2.”
Keith Jackson predicts Rangers v Celtic
The ongoing title race is one of the closest we have seen in recent years, with the two leading sides currently separated by just one point, although Rangers have a game in hand which theoretically could pull them clear.
If Philippe Clement’s team can secure a victory against Celtic at Ibrox they will leapfrog their rivals back to the top of the SPFL with their game in hand – coming after the clash with Dundee at Dens Park was suspended – next up with the potential to move five points clear.
Jackson’s insistence that a draw may be a good result for both sides is fair, but given the magnitude of the game both in terms of the league and getting one up on their rivals should mean both teams go into the game to take all three points.

Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil dismissed claims that the game would be a title decider with so much football still to play, but as the game edges closer and nerves start to intensify, there is certainly plenty on the line at Ibrox.
