Rangers v Celtic: Alex McLeish slams Kyogo Furuhashi, gushes over Philippe Clement

Alex McLeish has slammed Kyogo Furuhashi ahead of the Rangers v Celtic clash on Sunday, 7 April, at Ibrox.

The former Gers manager does not believe he’s the same player under Brendan Rodgers as he was when Ange Postecoglou was in charge and has questioned his confidence as well.

McLeish has also lauded Philippe Clement for making the team better and playing a superior brand of football as compared to Michael Beale.

McLeish told the Scottish Sun on 5 April: “Clement has projected his personality and the players look for that in a manager. They’ve taken his style and how he wants to play on board, big time.

“You’re seeing a lot more rhythm in this Rangers team and they don’t hog the ball all the time. They’re passing a lot quicker and I think he’s shaken them all up a bit.

“I think we’re seeing something similar to how Rangers are playing now, compared to under Beale earlier this season.

“I don’t think Kyogo has been the same since Postecoglou left. He doesn’t seem to be as confident.

“When you look at the points lead that Celtic had earlier this season, it’s been a huge shift and it’s hard to recover from that if it now swings the other way.

“The change in attitude and the manager, you can see they’re playing at a level now that’s fitting of a proper Rangers side.”

Clement has transformed Rangers to usurp Celtic

Under Clement’s management, Gers have undergone a remarkable transformation, with many players showing significant improvement under his guidance.

The Belgian deserves immense credit for instilling his personality and tactical vision into the team, fostering a cohesive playing style that emphasizes quick passing and fluid movement.

His ability to recruit talented players and integrate them seamlessly into the squad has been instrumental in the club’s potential success.

Moreover, his leadership has been pivotal in fostering a winning mentality among the players, instilling confidence and belief in their abilities.

He has demonstrated astute tactical awareness and adaptability, making shrewd decisions that have propelled Gers to the top of the league table and they could be leading by five points should they beat Celtic and Dundee.
