John Lundstram not happy with new Rangers contract offer amid Trabzonspor interest
John Lundstram did not respond positively to the initial offer from Rangers to extend his contract, according to Milliyet.
The Turkish outlet reported via their website on 6 April that the Englishman’s situation has been sparked into action by interest from Trabzonspor to sign him on a free when his deal expires in the summer.
But despite the Gers reportedly pushing their limits to get a deal done for the former Sheffield United midfielder he is said to have not been impressed with their first offer.
Talks have been open for some time between Rangers and the key man, while Philippe Clement has expressed total confidence in a deal being done, but it appears agreement has not been reached yet.
John Lundstram’s Rangers future under threat?
Unless Clement was trying to put pressure on the Ibrox hierarchy to get this one over the line because he wants to keep Lundstram it surely likely that the 30-year-old stays in Govan or the manager wouldn’t have made such a definite claim.
But, despite both the Belgian and the player indicating publicly that they want to continue his stay at the club there must be something that is preventing it from being completed and announced yet.
If there is buy-in from both sides then, assuming they are actively negotiating and haven’t simply put it off during a crucial period in the season, it would suggest either Lundstram is asking for took much or Rangers are trying to low-ball him.
Either possibility would be somewhat of a surprise given all sides publicly seem to be on board with getting a deal done.

Lundstram may again be key for Clement but surely isn’t demanding a major increase in pay from what he has been on already, although he did arrive from the English Premier League and was not open to discussing the talks in the media.
All indications are that Trabzonspor are in line to bring in one Rangers player on a free in Borna Barisic it would be a surprise if they managed to make it two, but until anything has been confirmed the door is theoretically still open.
