Rangers fans will love Roy Keane story as Michael Stewart clash emerges
Rangers fans will love what Rio Ferdinand shared about a clash between Roy Keane and Michael Stewart during their time at Manchester United.
Ferdinand detailed a memory of Keane telling Stewart he would never achieve anything in his career and would end up playing for a pub team – something Keane now insists he got right, naming Hibernian.
Stewart doesn’t exactly have the best relationship with the Rangers support due to an apparent overwhelming bias against the club – linked to Gers rejecting him at a trial decades ago.
As a result, the Ibrox fanbase will be lapping up the story of him being picked on during his spell at United and the incident with Keane.
Speaking on The Overlap [4 April], Ferdinand explained: “You used to sit on the ledge and do leg swings before you go out to training. He was a young lad, a Scottish international, I’m not saying he was a timid kid and he’s quite an open-speaking guy now.
“He was there and I don’t know what triggered you, but I came out into the corridor and I could hear you going ‘You’ll never make it, you. You’ll be playing for a pub team in a couple of years if you carry on.'”
Keane then joked: “I was right. He ended up at Hibs, Hibs and Hearts he played for.”
Rangers fans will love Roy Keane’s Michael Stewart story
Stewart’s clear bias against Philippe Clement’s team has led to a long-standing issue with the fans, so this story from Ferdinand and Keane will surely draw a laugh from most fans invested at Ibrox.
Most recently, Stewart gave his verdict on the upcoming Old Firm clash as he insisted Celtic would be boosted by players returning from injury and called for their attacking players to be more clinical to give them the edge at Ibrox.
The derby clash on 7 April will be a pivotal game in defining the outcome of the title race, so despite the Celtic focus from Stewart, Rangers will go into the game at Ibrox full of confidence that they can lay their claim to the title.

While the race won’t be over after this clash, it will certainly hand control to one of the two clubs, a positive result for either side could give them the edge both on points and mentally heading into the closing stages of the season.
