Rangers: Chris Sutton predicts Ibrox could turn against players if Celtic development happens

Chris Sutton says it is possible Rangers fans will turn on their own players should they make a “dodgy start” against Celtic next weekend.

Rangers welcome Old Firm rivals Celtic to Ibrox on Sunday (7 April) aiming to regain top spot in the Scottish Premiership with a game in hand to their name.

While Gers fans have had little to complain about since Philippe Clement took charge, Sutton believes that could soon change.

“It’s easy playing at Celtic and Rangers when things are going well,” Sutton said on Sky Sports, as shared by the broadcaster on X [2 April].

“Rangers only need a dodgy start at Ibrox and all the punters will be hammering the players.”

Ibrox all set for Rangers vs Celtic showdown

Rangers fans and players are united right now after an incredible effort since Clement took charge to first catch and then overtake Celtic.

The Gers may enter this game second, but that is due to the fact that the recent Dundee match was postponed.

Should the worst happen and Clement’s charges fall a couple of goals down early on, say, fans will no doubt rally behind them.

The Light Blues have come too far over the past six months for supporters to turn on the players now, regardless of what happens this weekend.

Tensions will be high, of course, and that will only help contribute to what will be a special atmosphere despite the early kick-off time.

With the whole of Ibrox behind them, this could be a special occasion for the Gers as they hopefully move a step closer to winning another title.

In other Rangers news, Craig Moore has shared why Gers fans should now be “nervous” after news that emerged on Tuesday (2 April).
