Rangers: Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist argue live on talkSPORT in new Old Firm verdict
Ally McCoist and Alan Brazil have reacted to the news that away fans will return to Old Firm clashes between Rangers and Celtic next season live on talkSPORT.
The pair agreed that the news was positive for both sets of supporters and a step towards making progress in the long-running controversy about away fans.
McCoist joked that the away supporters would be stuck with a restricted view again, prompting a jab from Brazil who insisted he always has to find something to whine about even after good news.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [06:36], Brazil shared: “Big weekend coming up. It’s good news that they’re going to let some away fans in next season, thank god for that. It’s five per cent or something like that.”
McCoist echoed the view: “Excellent, that’s the right decision. You’ll probably stick us behind that floodlight whatever it is where we can’t see, but no, it’s good that we’re all getting back in.”
“I’m just saying how nice it is to have around 5000 there and he’s got to have a whinge about it, you’ve got to go somewhere haven’t you?” Brazil joked as McCoist continued: “It’s a fact – you stick us behind a floodlight. I wouldn’t mind a good view of the game.”

The debate surrounding away fans raged on for far too long and fans suffered as a result.
Not having away fans at Parkhead or Ibrox has, of course, resulted in lesser atmospheres in a game which always thrived off the passion from the stands which is now lacking.
However, it was a positive update that fans will start to be let in from next season despite McCoist and Brazil’s joking. The fans are what make this game what it is, so the stadiums have felt empty without both sets turning up.
This all comes ahead of the clash at Ibrox on 7 April – without away supporters – which could end up being a title decider with the top two so closely matched this season. Rangers desperately need to overcome their poor record.

Cyriel Dessers, meanwhile, has been told this could be a defining week for his Rangers career as he could lose the favour of the Ibrox support if he fails to score in another Old Firm clash, especially if he missed a golden chance to find the net.
