Rangers v Celtic: Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton share ‘Huge’ verdict ahead of Old Firm
Kris Boyd and Chris Sutton have dropped their verdict ahead of the Old Firm clash between Rangers and Celtic on Sunday, and admitted it’s “impossible” to predict.
Celtic will head to Ibrox one point ahead of Rangers at the top of the SPFL table having played a game more on Sunday lunchtime, with the game being billed by many as a potential title decider.
But speaking after Celtic’s win over Livingston for Sky Sports (2 April), Boyd was asked what the Old Firm clash at Ibrox means for Clement and Rangers’ chances of the title.
“Huge,” he said. “Not only for himself but for the title race.
“You’ve got a chance at home, it gives you an opportunity to get that first win over Celtic, but looking at Rangers they’re in a good place.”
Sutton was then asked for his thoughts on the game, and admitted that despite his loyalties to Celtic it’s an “impossible” game to call.
“We can both sit here, and we have our loyalties but it’s impossible to call and that’s the beauty of this game,” Sutton said. “Anything could happen. Any scoreline it could be.”
Rangers vs Celtic – biggest game of the season again.
It’s very rare that there is a game between Rangers and Celtic that isn’t the biggest of the season up to that point, but this is the first time in a while it’s been a genuine title decider.
Under Michael Beale the team consistently fluffed their lines against Celtic, but this Rangers team has got a brand new mentality and look so much more dominant.
But the recent record against Celtic will no doubt play a big part in both teams’ approach, and it’s a game where a draw doesn’t really suit anyone either.
With that said that does make it impossible to predict, and while most people will consider Rangers to be favourites due to the home advantage and recent form there are no gimmies in these fixtures.
Boyd and Sutton often disagree but there’s a reason that they agree on this one, and that’s because they both know that it’s the truth.
