Rangers: Ferguson reacts to ‘Massive’ Abdallah Sima news before Celtic clash live on BBC
Derek Ferguson has insisted the return of Abdallah Sima will be a big boost to Rangers ahead of the Old Firm clash with Celtic on 7 April.
Sima made his return from injury from the bench as he replaced Cyriel Dessers with ten minutes of normal time to go, helping his side to a comfortable 3-1 victory at Ibrox.
Ferguson went on to fume that Dessers, despite his goal, remains inconsistent when presented with chances, which should be something Sima improved upon with his return.
“It’s massive,” he said live on BBC Radio Scotland, [16:56]. “You saw the best and worst of Dessers today with the header and then he misses the chance from what, eight yards out?
“Just pass it into the back of the net, but Sima has that pace, that power and he knows where the back of the net is. Going towards next week, it’s a big boost.”
Abdallah Sima provides huge Rangers boost v Celtic
Sima’s return could be the difference between winning and losing ahead of the crucial Old Firm clash amid a tight title battle. His pace and ability going forward offer something no other option does for Philippe Clement.
Sima has quickly become a fan-favourite at Ibrox thanks to his impressive performances since arriving in the summer, with ten goals and two assists in 20 league games before his injury.
After the injury he picked up at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, it had been suggested that he would never play for Rangers again if his recovery took him beyond the end of the season when his loan deal expires – but his return will come as a huge boost.

The attacker’s attitude has been on display of late after Clement revealed he had asked to travel with the squad to Lisbon ahead of the Europa League clash with Benfica despite his current injury issue.
Returning and getting around 15 minutes under his belt thanks to the amount of time added will be a strong positive for the team, returning to fitness ahead of the most important game of the season so far.
