Rangers: Bojan Miovski transfer possibility amid Aberdeen relegation battle after Neil Warnock

Derek Ferguson would “absolutely” like to see Bojan Miovski playing for Rangers but doubts the club will get the opportunity to sign him.

With the Dons struggling so badly this season a possible opening has been tipped for the Light Blues to swoop in and take advantage of a potential relegation panic to snap up the Macedonian goalscorer.

But despite the disastrous short reign of Neil Warnock Ferguson is convinced the club will stay in the SPFL to make it far too difficult for the two clubs to come to any sort of agreement on Miovski, despite often being mooted as potential target.

The Dons recorded a crucial win over Ross County on 30 March with the striker opening the scoring, to leave the club six points from SPFL relegation play-off spot.

He exclusively told Ibrox News: “They’ll not go down, Aberdeen, they’ve got too many good players. The last manager, has he got another job yet? I’m glad he enjoyed himself. He said he was coming up to enjoy himself and he’s done that with Aberdeen.

“But he’s not had the desired effect has he? He’s struggled a little bit to say the least. He was good for, I don’t know, the media? The media enjoyed him.

“It was incredible, he comes up, and there’s a lot of good players in that squad and I think they just needed steering in the right direction.

“He actually gave them a bit of stick for the six or seven games and says, ‘they werenae good at this and they werenae good at that’.

“I think he actually dented their confidence a little bit, so he did. But one thing with Aberdeen, they’ll no go down. I know it’s an old cliché but they’ve got too many good players for that to happen.

“And Miovski? Again, a talented boy, a goal scorer. And you just think [if] he had better players, a better supply than what Aberdeen have been giving him this season [then] he scores goals for fun.

“It’s the fee, they’ve always been difficult to deal with, Aberdeen. Certainly if it’s Rangers-Aberdeen or Aberdeen-Rangers, there’s that history between the two clubs, between the two supporters.

“So it would be a difficult one, but if you’re asking me ‘would I like him in a blue jersey?’ Absolutely.”

Rangers unlikely to land Pittodrie danger man

Philippe Clement seems certain to target a striker in the summer with Fabio Silva’s loan coming to an end, Kemar Roofe’s contract expiring, and Cyriel Dessers still inconsistent despite improvement.

Once again all eyes are likely to be on Lawrence Shankland at Hearts, with a move originally anticipated in January but thought to be all the more likely at the end of the campaign.

But while the Scotland international has been banging in goals for the Jam Tarts (55 in under two seasons), Miovski hasn’t been too far behind in that time (44) despite the major struggles at Pittodrie this term.

Were the Dons actually to go down then the traditional difficulties between the two clubs might become a side issue if they were forced to sell, but as long as they survive it seems a tough prospect.
