Abdallah Sima is unlikely to be available for the Rangers v Celtic Old Firm derby clash, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that for it to happen, he would need to be back in full first-team training having been out since mid January with a thigh concern.

Gers play host to the Hoops on 7 April in a clash that could potentially be billed as a title decider.

Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

"The key will be how he’s responding to first-team training but I would be surprised to see him not get bounce matches to build up fitness and rhythm considering how long he has been out.

"It will take multiple games for him to tolerate 90 minutes.

"So I think he is unlikely not just to start but also to be available for that [Celtic] game.

"If he’s back in full training already then it’s a possibility but that does not seem to be the case."

Rangers hoping Sima returns from injury v Celtic

Sima has enjoyed his first season at Ibrox, having joined on loan from Premier League outfit Brighton.

He scored 15 goals prior to his injury and was an important first-team player for Philippe Clement.

The Belgian often deployed the Senegal international on the left wing, but he drifted into central spaces and offered a terrific goal threat.
