Rangers: Philippe Clement surely keeps tabs on sensation Josh Gentles after ‘week to remember’

Rangers manager Philippe Clement would have been busy over the international break preparing himself for a huge period.

Following their Europa League last 16 exit and the postponement of the league meeting with Dundee, the Gers manager will be keen to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.

Fortunately, his wishes are now finally coming true, with Hibernian travelling to Ibrox for a league clash on Saturday (30 March).

But during the break, the man in the dugout will have also been monitoring the efforts of his players for their respective nations.

The likes of John Souttar, Cyriel Dessers and Fabio Silva were all in action, with the Wolves loanee particularly shining.

But also representing his nation at youth level was Gers sensation Josh Gentles, whose Wales Under-17 side secured their place at the Under-17 European Championships.

According to the official Rangers website (27 March), it was a “week to remember” for the young forward, who will now be keen on a place in the squad for the tournament in Cyprus this summer.

The 16-year-old is clearly in the very early stages of his career, both for club and country, but he may just be starting to appear at the back of Clement’s busy mind.

His chances of being noticed were undoubtedly improved in November, with Gentles named the Academy Player of the Month after a superb spell at Rangers B [official Rangers website, 8 December 2023].

Clement has shown this season that he is more than willing to give youth a chance with the seniors, with young winger Ross McCausland shining in the first team following his time in the academy setup.

In other Rangers news, a Gers and Celtic title race prediction has been made by Joe Ledley, with a ‘slipped up’ verdict shared.
