Rangers and Celtic title race prediction made by Joe Ledley as ‘slipped up’ claim made

Rangers and Celtic are heading for one of the tightest Scottish Premiership finishes in a long time this season.

That is according to Joe Ledley, who believes the Old Firm rivals have both slipped up this season.

Celtic currently occupy top spot in the table with 71 points, with Rangers one point behind them in second, with a game in hand.

“It is very tight and, of course, the games between the two teams look as if they are going to be deciding games that dictate who comes out on top,” said Ledley, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“But I have seen a few times this season that Celtic and Rangers have slipped up in games where you felt they would have won and they didn’t. So it is going to be tight. Getting that win against your rivals in the last two games in the league is vital.

“But, as I said, we’ve seen it numerous times this season that there have been slips just when you do not expect it. So if Celtic get that win against Rangers, you can’t think that’s it and the game is over. It’s not. Far from it.

“A draw somewhere and that is two points of the three points gained gone and it is all back on again. Goal difference is tight, points are tight, it is going to be one of the tightest finishes in a long time.”

Will Rangers or Celtic come out on top this season?

It is certainly an intriguing Scottish Premiership title race, with such competitiveness having often been missing in recent seasons.

The Gers were well out of the title race at the beginning of the season, with results certainly not going their way under the guidance of Michael Beale.

But the powers that be at Ibrox took serious action at that time, replacing Beale with Philippe Clement, with the latter completely turning the situation around.

Win after win saw the Gers climb to the top of the league standings, helped out by some poor results from Celtic.

But the Bhoys have made it back to the top of the pile under Brendan Rodgers, with the two clubs now gearing up for a massive Old Firm derby, which may just decide how the title is won and lost.
