Rangers: Alex Lowry transfer update emerges at Ibrox in latest news
By Ellis Stevens.
Alex Lowry could be set to depart from Rangers this summer after a disappointing loan spell, according to Chris Jack.
The Journalist reported for the Rangers Review (26 March) that academy graduate Lowry “faces an uncertain future” at Ibrox after he failed to impress during his loan spell to Hearts, which was cut short during the January transfer window.
Lowry is the newest member of the Rangers first-team to be rumoured to leave Rangers in the summer, with Jack stating last week that Leon King could move away from the club “for the good of his career”.
Jack went on to say that a further duo could also follow Lowry out the door in the coming summer window, with Robby McCrorie and Robbie Fraser, the B Team captain.
Phillipe Clement to ditch a further three Rangers academy products?
At just 20-years-old, Lowry had shown promise during his first two seasons involved with the Rangers first team, and a loan move to Hearts at the beginning of the season looked to provide the opportunity for further first-team football.
After 17 appearances in the three competitions that Hearts are involved in though, Lowry’s loan spell was cut short as Jambos manager Steven Naismith said he wasn’t going to get the game time that he needed to develop in his career.
Lowry’s unimpressive time at Hearts saw him score a single goal for the club, a 90th-minute winner against Kilmarnock in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals.

If Clement is unconvinced by the academy product then Lowry may have to leave the club in order to get the minutes he will need to develop, and duo McCrorie and Fraser may well share the same fate.
While it would be disappointing to see three more homegrown talents make a departure from Ibrox, if they attract transfer fees then it could provide extra spending money for Clement’s potential summer plans.
In other Rangers news, a pair of non-defensive players are expected to leave as well because they can’t be relied upon.
