Rangers: Chris Jack shares ‘huge’ Abdallah Sima injury update at Ibrox
Chris Jack has claimed Abdallah Sima could return to the Rangers first team in the next couple of weeks as he is not far away from recovering from his injury.
The Rangers Review journalist explained that the timeline given by Philippe Clement would place his return around about now, as he could return for the Hibernian or Celtic clashes.
He went on to explain how Sima’s return could add plenty of positives to Clement’s side in terms of goals and attacking impetus which has been lacking at times since his injury.
Speaking on The Rangers Review [25 March], “We think that Abdallah Sima is potentially not too far away and could be back in the squad over the next couple of weeks, that would be a huge boost for Rangers.
“It would certainly add a new dimension to the team, he would add goals and he’d add a bit of guile. That would be a real bonus. The manager has been quite coy on timescales.
“I think the initial timescale pointed to being around about now, I asked a couple of weeks ago and he said he’s on the same timescale. We’re now getting to, if the progress has gone on schedule, he should be back. Whether he makes it for Hibs or Celtic, who knows?”
Huge boost for Rangers in Abdallah Sima injury news
After the injury Sima picked up at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year, it had been suggested that he would never play for Rangers again if his recovery took him beyond the end of the season when his loan deal expires – but the latest update will come as a huge boost.
Sima has quickly become a fan-favourite at Ibrox thanks both to his performances since arriving in the summer, with ten goals and two assists in 20 league games before his injury, as well as the attitude he has shown for the club.
The attacker’s attitude has been on display of late after Clement revealed he had asked to travel with the squad to Lisbon ahead of the Europa League clash with Benfica despite his current injury issue.

There has also been speculation that Sima may wish to remain at Ibrox on a permanent deal at the end of the season after his agent claimed he was happy in Glasgow, but whether anything comes from that will likely be decided by his parent club.
