Rangers: Borna Barisic exit to Trabzonspor update as agent claims to speak to other clubs

Trabzonspor’s move for Borna Barisic at the expiry of his Rangers contract has no major obstacles in the way and there is a high probability it will now go through, according to Yunus Emre Sel.

The Turkish journalist reported via this YouTube channel on 25 March that the Croatian’s agent is still in Italy, having reportedly been set to attend the Transfer Room summit in Rome last week, and claims to still be due to speak to other clubs.

But despite this the move to the Turkish Super Lig is still expected to be sealed after the 31-year-old was one of the first players coach Abdullah Avcı met via FaceTime from his summer targets, with the club now working intensively to get it over the line.

Barisic’s Ibrox deal is up in the summer and he is believed to have already indicated he is willing to move to Trabzonspor.

Borna Barisic agent trying to inflate Rangers exit deal?

Unless another club suddenly arrives on the scene and is willing to pay the Light Blues left-back significantly more, and perhaps crucially include a nicer fee for the agent, there seems to be no reason the Turkey move doesn’t go through.

All indications from the country suggest Trabzonspor are well down the line towards completing a deal and, unlike sometimes, there has been next to nothing suggesting otherwise in Scotland.

In light of Ridvan Yilmaz’s injury on international duty there might be one last opportunity for Barisic to get his spot back for the final few weeks of his Rangers career.

If that does happen it will include a crucial Old Firm derby in under two weeks, a fixture in which he hasn’t always covered himself in glory.

Should he be called upon for any sustained length of time over the coming weeks it would provide him the opportunity to go out with a flourish, and potentially with a treble to his name if everything falls into place, with Trabzonspor seemingly intent on securing him sooner rather than later.

In other Rangers news, a journalist claims the Light Blues completing a deal to sign a headline goalscorer is a near-certainty.
