Ray Parlour reacts to what Ally McCoist told him about Rangers live on talkSPORT

Ray Parlour was wowed live on air after Ally McCoist told him about the team he played in during his time at Rangers.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (22 March, 09:16am), McCoist went through the list of some of the players he played with, bringing out names such as Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne, Ray Wilkins, Graeme Souness, Terry Butcher, Trevor Francis, Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven and Terry Hurlock.

Parlour responded by saying “what a team” as he highlighted how good Hurlock was, with McCoist adding that the former Light Blues midfielder was a “great player”.

“The team you had at Rangers was some team,” said Parlour.

“Laudrup, Gazza, Wilkins, Souness, Butcher, Gary Stevens, Trevor Steven, throw in a bit of Terry Hurlock,” added McCoist.

“What a team,” replied Parlour. “Terry was a good player, wasn’t he?”

“I loved Terry, great player,” said McCoist. “He could play, brilliant lad as well.”

“What a team that was,” added Parlour.

“We had some squad,” replied McCoist. “Trevor Francis. Amazing some of the players.”

Rangers have had plenty of stars at Ibrox

There is no doubt that Rangers have had plenty of stars come through the door at Ibrox and go on to win silverware with the club.

It’s staggering when you think about some of those names after several of them racked up numerous caps for their national teams.

It’s a tribute to just how good McCoist was for the Gers that he maintained his place in the side with those players in the building, having scored more than 250 goals for the club over a 15-year period.

Ally McCoist is highly regarded at Rangers

While it’s been a while since the Light Blues have had so much quality in their squad at one point, there is confidence that Philippe Clement could be onto something special after just a few months in charge.

The Belgian has overseen a successful start to life in Glasgow and he’ll be hoping to add more trophies to the Viaplay Cup his side already won this season.
