Rangers: Fabio Silva stock rises higher after what happened for Portugal Under-21s
Rangers manager Philippe Clement may just be worried about the current international break, for more reasons than one.
Aside from the narrow Europa League round of 16 loss to Benfica, the Gers were flying high under the Belgian before having to pause for international football.
Their momentum could now be disrupted, while the manager also has to worry about his players picking up knocks for their respective nations.
But it is a chance for the Ibrox stars to continue their fine club form with their countries, and that is exactly what loan ace Fabio Silva has done.
The striker, who is currently on loan from Premier League outfit Wolves, was handed a start for Portugal Under-21s as they faced the Faroe Islands on Thursday (21 March).
And he didn’t disappoint, with the forward netting the first goal of the evening as his side won the Euro 2025 qualifier 4-0.
Portugal are now top of the standings with 15 points from their six matches, with Silva playing a key role in their recent success.
The striker definitely had his struggles at Wolves, and perhaps even in his early days at Ibrox, but now he is thriving for club and country.
Rangers ace Fabio Silva continues impressive Portugal Under-21s form
As per Transfermarkt, Silva has four goals from his 14 Rangers appearances, and now boasts five goals for Portugal Under-21s in Euro 2025 qualifying.
The latter tally places him joint-second in the goals charts for the current campaign, with only Germany ace Youssoufa Moukoko ahead of him with six [official UEFA website].

Portugal’s attacking style of football has undoubtedly helped, with the nation leading the way for goals (21) and total attempts (90), as per the official UEFA website.
In other Rangers news, Clement’s anger is set to grow further as a former Premier League referee lays out a ruling after the Dens Park controversy.
