Andy Walker slams Rangers as Borna Barisic exit update emerges at Ibrox
Andy Walker has slammed Rangers after it has emerged Borna Barisic is set to join Trabzonspor once his contract expires at the end of the season.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show on Thursday (21 March), the pundit said it’s probably not the best move to let someone as good as the Croatian international leave Ibrox for nothing.
He added that the Gers would want to get some money for a player who’s been at the club as long as the 31-year-old after Turkish media outlet Fanatik reported on 19 March that the left-back is close to agreeing a move to join Trabzonspor in July.
“I think he has been really good,” said Walker. “His crossing just as a left-back has been really good. It is probably not the best business move to let someone as good as that go to the end of their contract and move for nothing.
“Ideally you want to try and get money for any player who has been there for that amount of time before he comes to the end of his contract.”
Borna Barisic fallen out of favour at Rangers
There are probably a fair few people who still believe Barisic has plenty to offer and could still play a part if he were to stick around at Rangers.
There is no questioning the commitment the Croatian has shown the Gers since he joined the club from Osijek in 2018.
But after losing his place to Ridvan Yilmaz over the past few months, he probably wants to be guaranteed first-team football as he enters the latter part of his career.

The Light Blues were probably reluctant to previously offer a player in their 30s a long-term deal, which is why it’s reached the point where he can – and looks set to – leave for nothing.
It’s a balancing act in these situations, but Philippe Clement will just be hoping to get the most out of the left-back if he’s called upon in any big moments in the last couple of months of the campaign.
In other Rangers news, Neil Lennon has labelled a situation as “unacceptable” after what happened to the Gers.
