Rangers v Manchester United: BBC pundit reacts to development

Lee McCulloch is thrilled that Rangers and Manchester United will be squaring off against each other in a pre-season friendly on 20 July.

Gers announced on Wednesday, 20 March, that the game will be hosted at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

The rugby union stadium has a capacity of over 65,000 and is expected to be an in-demand event this summer.

McCulloch, a BBC pundit, told PLZ Soccer: “Firstly, I think it will be a tremendous occasion at an unreal stadium. My memories of playing against Manchester United were in the Champions League. The atmosphere at Ibrox was bouncing and that’s why I think it’s going to be such a special game. I think the atmosphere is going to be really positive.”

Great occasion for both Rangers and Manchester United

For Rangers, facing off against Manchester United, a club with a rich history and one of the most successful in English football, presents an exciting opportunity to test their mettle against top-tier opposition.

The prospect of playing at Murrayfield, a venue with a capacity of over 65,000, ensures a vibrant atmosphere and a memorable experience for fans.

Similarly, for Manchester United, the match offers a chance to engage with their Scottish fanbase and showcase their talent in a prestigious venue.

The encounter also serves as valuable preparation for both teams ahead of the upcoming season, allowing players to fine-tune their skills and tactics against formidable opposition.

Furthermore, the historical connections between the two clubs, including past encounters in the Champions League and shared player affiliations, most recently Amad Diallo’s loan switch to Ibrox, add an extra layer of intrigue to the fixture.

It will be a huge surprise if this one isn’t sold out weeks in advance as both sets of fans from all over the world are likely to want to attend this game.

In other Rangers news, the club are set to bank a significant windfall as a multi-million transfer update has emerged recently.
