Rangers: Sky Sports journalist shares Jack Butland transfer news as Ibrox exit mooted
Michael Bridge has questioned why Jack Butland would want to leave Rangers this summer amid rumours of a move back to the Premier League.
The Sky Sports journalist stated that, with Butland performing well at Ibrox, if they win the league he could earn a place in the England squad, and there would be no reason to leave the club.
He also went on to insist that Butland’s love for the club has become clear, while he is also loved by the fans, which will make him feel like the “greatest person on earth”.
Speaking to Give Me Sport [21 March], Bridge shared: “If you are Rangers’ number-one goalkeeper, who has taken over from Allan McGregor, and go on to win the Scottish Premiership, he has got a very, very good chance of making the England squad.
“Every time I listen to Jack Butland, I hear him just say how much he is loving it in Scotland. When you are loved at Rangers, you feel like the greatest person on earth, so I don’t see why he would rush to move back down south.
“It looks like he is really enjoying his time up there. If he is on the fringes of the England squad now, why would he leave?”
Could Jack Butland leave Rangers this summer?
Rumours in January suggested that Nottingham Forest had made a big to sign Butland which was rejected out of hand, but Chris Jack more recently suggested the club could entertain offers if they meet their valuation this summer.
As highlighted by their refusal to entertain offers in January, Butland is a crucial part of this Rangers team under Philippe Clement, and if they can help it, they will surely hold on to who has likely been their player of the season this term.
However, as Jack says, certain offers would simply be too good for the club to turn down, regardless of his importance to the first team, with the opportunity to reinvest incoming funds the key.

Ally McCoist recently insisted that if the Ibrox club go all the way and win the title this season, it will be largely down to Butland’s performances, who Bridge claims should be tempted to say if he can lift the SPFL title.
