Rangers set for ‘Mini Revolution’ in summer transfer window amid ‘Huge’ journalist update

Rangers are set for a “mini revolution” at Ibrox this summer during the transfer window according to journalist Graeme Bailey.

Philippe Clement replaced Michael Beale in October and has since turned the club’s fortunes on their head, reaching the knockout stages of the Europa League and closing the gap on Celtic in the SPFL title race.

And speaking to Rangersnews.uk (21 March), the journalist has shared that the boss is set to be given free reign over his squad this summer with every position under consideration in the transfer market, with some older players also set to leave.

“I think Clement wants to do a bit of work, in the summer,” he said. “From what I’m hearing he’s quite happy with the progress in the squad, even if its fair to say they are currently overachieving.

“By the same token Celtic are underachieving, and that’s what Rangers needed to challenge this season.

“It’s fair to say all areas of the team are under consideration. You wouldn’t call this a classic Rangers team by any stretch and there will be work done in the summer.

“Even in comparison to Gerrard’s team it’s a patchwork squad, and even if the Gers win the league I am led to believe there’s going to be quite a bit done at Ibrox.

“Like I say, the squad will be going through something of a mini-revolution,” said Bailey. “We could see some of the older names disappear.

“James Tavernier is a real target for the Saudi Pro League. He’s huge for the club, and he’s not desperate to move by any means, but if Rangers get a good offer they will have to consider it. They are 100% looking at the Rangers captain.”

Rangers set for a huge summer transfer window

Philippe Clement has already won the trust of most of the blue half of Glasgow for his performance as manager since he joined the club.

Performances on the pitch have done a complete 180 while his transfer business has been good too with Mohammed Diomande shining, Oscar Cortes looking bright before his injury and Fabio Silva providing more quality in attack also.

He also allowed Sam Lammers to leave when it was clear that he wasn’t good enough and hasn’t been afraid to use young players like Ross McCausland and Cole McKinnon where necessary too.

That no doubt helps the board to give him free reign to make decisions when it comes to his squad, and after the way the big overhaul last summer went there is no space to get it wrong again this time around.

Big decisions are going to be made with the playing staff, with both incomings and outgoings, and Rangers fans will just have to trust the process.

In other Rangers news, the club should cash in on one star with his replacement already at Ibrox.
