Rangers: John Lundstram new contract admission made by BBC pundit
Lee McCulloch has issued a contract admission on John Lundstram who’s linked with an exit as his Rangers contract is up in the summer.
The English midfielder has been a first-team regular for the Ibrox outfit and has impressed under Philippe Clement as well.
He’s made 27 league appearances this term and over the last month, every game he’s played in, he has lasted the full 90 minutes.
Via Rangers Review, McCulloch, a BBC pundit, said: “He gets what the club is all about, which is the biggest thing for me. He loves playing for Rangers. I’ve spoken to him a few times and he’s a real good, grounded boy.
“It makes a massive difference. John’s got that mentality though where he loves to win, hates to get beat and performs consistently week in, week out.
“He’s been an easy target at times when he’s actually been playing okay. But when he’s on his game he’s one of the best. Personally, I’d love to see him stay, but I don’t know if that will happen.
“His contract is up at the end of the season. But I think he’s been good enough to say you should try to keep a hold of him. That’s only my opinion, though, that’s down to the powers that be.
“But he gets the demands of the fans so for me it would be good to keep hold of him.”
A new contract for John Lundstram must be a priority for Rangers
It’s sensible for the club to offer Lundstram a contract extension of at least two years based on his consistent and impactful performances throughout the season.
The 30-year-old has proven his worth with over 40 appearances in all competitions, demonstrating his reliability and endurance.
His contributions in midfield have been instrumental to the team’s success, showcasing qualities such as aggression, versatility, passing range and aerial prowess.
Moreover, Lundstram’s understanding of Rangers’ ethos and the demands of the supporters adds significant value to his role within the squad.
His commitment to the club’s culture and his passion for playing at Ibrox resonate with fans and enhance team cohesion.
Additionally, retaining Lundstram would provide continuity and stability to the squad, allowing Rangers to build upon the progress they’ve made under Clement.

Given his consistent performances and his alignment with the club’s values, securing Lundstram’s services would be an extremely wise decision.
