Rangers: Ross McCausland leaves Northern Ireland camp as injury update emerges
Rangers winger Ross McCausland has returned from international duty to Auchenhowie for treatment for an injury.
That is according to Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill, with Watford loanee Jamal Lewis in the same position.
The boss added, however, that both players could be fit for their country’s second match of the break against Scotland.
“Both Ross and Jamal have gone back to their clubs for treatment, but hopefully they will join up with us when we arrive in Scotland for the second game,” said O’Neill, as quoted by the official Irish Football Association website (18 March).
Rangers will be desperate for Ross McCausland to get back to full fitness
McCausland has enjoyed a superb breakout season at Ibrox, with the youngster really impressing under Philippe Clement. He has also been given a break in the national team by O’Neill and again has performed admirably.
But his time on the pitch lately has been disrupted by injury, with both managers undoubtedly wanting the player to return to full fitness.
Clement, however, may just be extra cautious with the attacker now he has returned to his club for training.
The manager has had to deal with several injuries this season, with a lot of those issues impacting his forward players in particular.
McCausland has been ruled out of his nation’s trip to Bucharest to take on Romania on Friday (22 March), but could still feature for Northern Ireland in this international break.

Fortunately, he wouldn’t have too far to travel at all, with Northern Ireland also meeting Scotland at Hampden Park next Tuesday (26 March).
In other Rangers news, Clement’s anger is set to grow further as a former Premier League referee lays out a ruling after the Dens Park controversy.
