Rangers: Chris Jack shares John Lundstram contract update amid concern at Ibrox
Chris Jack has reassured Rangers fans that the club is committed to handing John Lundstram a new contract at Ibrox amid growing concern about possible delays.
The Rangers Review journalist shared that the club and the player remain in agreement over a new deal, and any delay is simply down to a lack of urgency compared to other matters.
It is also said that Philippe Clement wants Lundstram to remain at Ibrox, and a deal could be announced as soon as other issues die down, likely towards the end of the season.
Speaking on The Rangers Review [18 March], Jack was asked whether we should be concerned about the lack of news, as he shared: “Not that I’m aware of.
“I think the last time I checked was maybe three weeks ago, and word was that all parties were in agreement that a new contract is the way forward. Everyone is committed to making it happen.
“Rangers are keen to tie him down and the manager wants him as part of his squad, so I would be surprised if that one doesn’t happen.
“The fact that it’s not been signed, I wouldn’t be too worried about it. As far as I’m aware, everyone is still committed to that, so I would think that once things calm down it will be done and it will be announced.”
When will John Lundstram sign a new contract at Rangers?
It now appears that a new contract offer is highly likely, given the intentions of the club, Clement, and Lundstram himself to come to an agreement, which will come as music to the ears of fans at Ibrox as the midfielder has proved to be one of their most important players.
However, it has been suggested that the Englishman will be one of the highest-paid players at Ibrox since he arrived on a free transfer from Sheffield United, with Gers likely forking out to bring him to Glasgow.
Given the title race Clement’s side are currently involved in, all focus should remain on training and winning their remaining games to give themselves the best chance of pipping Celtic to the title, so any contract talks are likely to be finalised towards the end of the season.

Ibrox hero John Brown recently urged the club to offer a new deal to Lundstream, and will no doubt be pleased by the news that it looks like an agreement will be reached in a matter of when rather than if it happens.
