Rangers: ‘Huge’ Mohamed Diomande dilemma on cards at Ibrox

Rangers ace Mohamed Diomande faces a “huge” dilemma after he was called up for international duty by both Ghana and the Ivory Coast Under-23s team, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reported on 18 March that, having earned a shock call-up to the Ghanaian national team at the weekend, he has also been called to represent Ivory Coast’s under-23s, whom he already has one cap for.

Diomande will now be left with a decision to make regarding his international future, although with both games being friendlies, any decision won’t be enough to tie him down long-term.

Who will Rangers’ Mohamed Diomande represent internationally?

As shared in The Scottish Sun article, the midfielder had recently donned an Ivory Coast kit in training to poke fun at Nigerian teammate Leon Balogun after the Elephants defeated the Super Eagles in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, having moved to Ghana at a young age to join the Right To Dream academy and pursue his career in football, he also holds a Ghanaian passport which made him eligible for an international switch.

Another dilemma may emerge from the fact that, while the Ivory Coast have offered him a youth call-up, he has been offered the chance to represent the senior team for Ghana as a result of his impressive performances at Ibrox.

Diomande, who joined Rangers after seeking advice from Ivorian legends Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure (which may provide another hint as to where his allegiance lies) has been in great form since arriving at Ibrox which has led to a clamour for his representation.

This is certainly one to watch.
