Chris Jack relays statement surrounding Rangers March development
Chris Jack has relayed the statement of what an SPFL spokesperson has said with regard to the postponement of Rangers v Dundee.
Gers arrived at Dens Park on 17 March only to be told a few hours before kick-off that the game had been called off.
This sparked controversy in Scottish football as it was not the first time such an incident took place and the SPFL will now be investigating the circumstances.
Via Twitter, the Scottish Herald journalist shared the statement.
Dundee owe Rangers and the SPFL answers
Rangers have every right to be frustrated and angered by Dundee’s repeated pitch problems, leading to the postponement of their match.
This isn’t an isolated incident but the fourth time this season alone.
The lack of communication from Dundee regarding the state of the pitch is concerning, especially given their history of issues.
The late decision to call off the match inconvenienced not only Gers but also their supporters, who had already travelled to the stadium.
Additionally, the match’s nationwide broadcast on Sky Sports reflects poorly on Scottish football as a whole.
Dundee’s CEO mentioned efforts to prepare the pitch, but the recurrence of these issues raises questions about the club’s ability to maintain a suitable playing surface.
Both clubs now face scheduling difficulties due to the postponement, further adding to the frustration.
The SPFL’s investigation is warranted to address these recurring problems and ensure such situations are avoided in the future, demonstrating the need for action to be taken regarding Dundee’s pitch management.
