Rangers: Philippe Clement right to be furious after what happened on Sunday, fallout incoming

Rangers were certain to be more than ready to get back on the pitch after being knocked out of Europa by Benfica.

The Portuguese outfit secured a 1-0 Europa League round of 16 second leg win at Ibrox on Thursday (14 March), clinching a 3-2 aggregate win.

The Gers had an immediate chance to bounce back from that heartache with their trip to Dundee on Sunday (17 March).

But the Scottish Premiership clash was called off less than two hours before kick-off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Unsurprisingly, Gers manager Philippe Clement was enraged at the decision from referee Don Robertson, not least because it arrived so close to the noon starting time.

“I think it’s a really bad advertisement for the league,” Clement told BBC Scotland. “Our kit man had to discover there was a problem because he arrived early. That’s already a strange situation.”

Rangers manager Philippe Clement will be angry at the decision for quite some time

The fact the Ibrox kit man was among the first to know the issue is not a good look for Dundee, nor is the fact that the Rangers players had arrived at Dens Park, only to find out there was no game going ahead.

That will have been the same situation for several away fans, who will be absolutely gutted about the postponement.

The anger is justifiable, with this now representing the fourth game to be called off at Dens Park this season after heavy rainfall.

There is already immediate outrage from many parties, but a major fallout can be expected following the decision to cancel the match.
