Rangers: Chris Jack shares when Dundee showdown may be played after postponement

Rangers’ rearranged clash with Dundee will have to be played in the midweek either before the Old Firm clash with Celtic or the away trip with Ross County, according to Chris Jack.

The Light Blues were due to make the trip to Dens Park on Sunday (17 March) but the game was called off only 90 minutes before kick-off after a second pitch inspection decided the conditions were unplayable.

Philippe Clement’s side will have to play Tony Docherty’s team before the split in the Scottish Premiership and according to Jack, that leaves the Gers with very few options of when to rearrange the clash.

Speaking on The Rangers Review (17 March) he said: “I know the theory is that it gives them a bit more time, but as the manager outlined, it’s now eating up a midweek that they wouldn’t have necessarily factored in for.

“Would you rather go to Dens Park four days before an Old Firm game? No. Do you want to go to Dens Park and then Ross County on the Sunday? Probably not. That’s the situation that Rangers now face because the game has to be played before the split.”

When will Rangers play Dundee after Premiership postponement?

Some have suggested that Sunday’s postponement will have come as a welcome boost to Rangers in their hunt for the Scottish Premiership title this season, but it is clear that Clement doesn’t view it that way.

The Light Blues now head into the March international break second in the league and a point behind Celtic. While that could change very quickly, it is a slight psychological blow as the two Glasgow sides fight it out.

Philippe Clement has turned things around at Rangers

Having been knocked out of the Europa League by Benfica, the Gers will have not planned to play midweek games before the Premiership split. Sunday’s postponement will have put a huge spanner in the works.

Hopefully, the Gers will be able to navigate that extra fixture without losing their domestic momentum. They have been so good in the league since Clement arrived in Glasgow and they can’t let one disruption throw them off.
