Michael Stewart slams Rangers transfer decision on BBC Sportsound as he predicts title winners
Rangers could have won the Scottish Premiership by now had they signed a number nine in the transfer window.
That is according to Michael Stewart, with the pundit giving the Gers a 60% chance of winning the league this season.
Philippe Clement’s side are second in the standings, one point behind Brendan Rodgers’ men, although the former have a game in hand.
“If Rangers had actually got their act together and gone out and got a No9 the league could have been over,” Stewart said on BBC Sportsound, as quoted by The Scottish Sun (16 March).
Discussing the title favourites, Steward added: “For me it’s 60/40 in terms of Rangers but I wouldn’t write Celtic off.”
Can Rangers finish strong under Philippe Clement?
It has been a remarkable season so far for Clement at Rangers, with the manager really turning things around at Ibrox from the doom days under Michael Beale.
Not only has he lifted the League Cup and has the Gers flying high in the Scottish Cup, the man in the dugout has close the gap in the league standings between his side and fierce rivals Celtic.
There was, of course, also the fantastic Europa League run, although that came to a heartbreaking end against Benfica at Ibrox.
Now, a lot of his focus must be on the league, with the Bhoys going back to the top of the pile after beating St Johnstone 3-1 at Celtic Park on Saturday (16 March).
The Gers can overtake their city rivals once more with a positive result away to Dundee on Sunday (17 March).

But perhaps the league will be won and lost when Rangers and Celtic come together in the next Old Firm at Ibrox on April 7.
In other Rangers news, Celtic fans will rage despite the recent Benfica victory at Ibrox as a UEFA development emerges.
